The Brief
A homeowner came to Eagle Wire needing a custom catio mesh panel solution for the back deck of their house. The brief was clear: The enclosure needed to look modern, keep cats safely contained, allow light and airflow through, hold up to the elements, and include a hinged swing door with a lockable latch for easy access and security. Cost-effectiveness was also a priority.
Solutions Delivered
Eagle Wire visited the site to take measurements, which were used to produce CAD drawings for the custom frames. In the factory, stock galvanised mesh panels (1200x2400mm, 3.15mm wire with a 30×30 aperture) were welded onto 30×30 steel box section frames. The wire size, aperture, and box section were selected to ensure the frames were strong enough to withstand pushing and pulling while still allowing plenty of light and airflow through.
The completed frames were powder-coated for a clean, modern finish and then delivered to site, where Eagle Wire’s installation team fitted them using custom fixing tabs, standard hinges, and a lockable latch on the swing door. The entire installation was completed efficiently, with the fixing tab system making on-site assembly straightforward.
Outcome
The finished catio gives the cats safe, unrestricted access to the deck without risk of escape. The custom catio mesh panels are significantly more durable and robust than commercial mesh netting options. The lockable swing door provides easy access for the homeowner, and the powder-coated finish ensures the enclosure will hold up to the elements over time. The use of stock mesh panels kept costs down without compromising on quality or appearance.
